I agree with the previous posters saying do the "shield missions". You should have a shield for "Great Northern Wall".

When you complete a mission, you will see a sword go through the shield from upper-left to bottom-right. This lets you know you have completed the "Primary" portion of that mission, and you can move on.

Look for a shield on your map with NO swords through it. That will let you know where you need to go next to go through the story-arc.

Going through the story-arc will help get you more XP (1,000-2,000 XP per mission depending on whether you get the bonus objective). This will help you level faster.

Don't worry about xp, ever, at all. Trying to achieve secondary objectives will actually get it faster, and get you through the game faster.

Only do quests that offer skill points, item rewards you need, or missions (do all missions, they're fun and give skill points in addition to the xp). In order to find secondary outposts, use one of the many online maps, and if there's a quest to get there, might as well grab it. Finding these outposts is important when you start trying to unlock all skills, most of these minor towns have skill trainers. Don't buy the skills from them until you either finish the game or check online to make sure they're not offered for free by a quest however.

what would be the purpose of "getting through the game faster"? so we can have one more idiot on the forums complaining about how the game is too short and he has nothing left to do?

There's nothing wrong with doing all the quests. In fact, the first time through the game is really a great time to do that. On later characters, you'll probably be bored and only want to do some "essential" quests, like ones that grant skills.

In general, do whatever you want. But if you can't find the next mission, it should be the top quest in your quest log, marked "(Primary Quest)". Otherwise, go to the last location you've been and publicly ask people there where the next mission is.

Or tell us every location you've been to, and we'll tell you what to do. =)

my first time around with guild wars, i did most or all the quests and missions that is available. On my second character, i might just do half the quests.. the real need to do all the quests is to get the exp and get more enjoyment out of the overall story line.

Fifth character for me. Still pre-searing. Went a different direction I didn't realize I hadn't gone in before. New quests.

Go figure.

I know at some points I've been bored and level 10 is kind of a tweenish level.

If you're bored and don't want to do quests that seem pointless it's time to stop doing the quests. The game is about having fun, fun for you not everyone on the boards.

Ignore all the quests and look on the internet for an exposed map. Find the next mission and travel there. I'll say that at 11'ish I think the game hits a dry spell. There's not the constant influx of good skills and there's not any challenge or change in scenery. If you're in the snow you're moving in the right direction. Look on your map in the snow area for Nolani Academy Beacon's Perch and North Kryta and have some fun.

Trust me the skill quests will still be there when you're ready for them.

The other thing I'd say is look up on the web for skill quests. They have them here on this main site. Some people enjoy figuring them out on their own and if you do that's all good but there's no shame in taking the easy way. It's your game and have fun with it. You're not changing their game in any way by having fun.

If you want to come back and do a quest you still can. As far as I can see there's no bonus for doing every quest in the game. I'm not knocking people who did, I'm just saying that you shouldn't if you're getting bored.

doesn't the number of swords signify completing the mission and bonus? I noticed when i got the mission it was one sword, complete the bonus and the second sword appears.
